We Can Officially Drive to Our House!

All kinds of exciting things happening at the lot today!  They started the construction driveway and did the framing for the foundation.  They should be pouring the foundation pretty soon!

The foreground is the common driveway, the curve you see is where it turns into our driveway.

Getting the house ready for foundation

"Alexa, drumroll." Seriously, do it.

Yesterday and the day before were sunny and in the upper 70's so we thought there would be some progress on the house.  We stopped by yesterday after work and we were a little disappointed that nothing had happened since the silt fence was installed last week.  Today was cooler, overcast, and drizzly all day.  It's sort of on my way home to drive by the house, so I did it today but didn't think I'd see anything different since yesterday.  I've never been more excited to be wrong - they broke ground today!!!  :-)

Next step is probably laying down the construction driveway (which will eventually become our permanent driveway).  We're supposed to have nicer weather next week, so we're hoping that they pour the foundation on Monday.

Don't forget you can click on the pictures to make them bigger...

I was so excited to see the bulldozer and even more so to see the mounds of dirt!!

Looking down on our property - remember yellow stakes are driveway.  :-)

The hole for the house!!  We are going to have a walkout on the right side of the house which is why it's level on that side.

Left side is going to be the part of the driveway; right side is the house

Let's Get Ready to Rubblllllllle!!!

It's finally starting!!!

It took us about two and a half weeks to get the building permit and then Bob Ward needed to schedule the surveyors to come out again to officially stake out the house.  That finally happened yesterday!  We stopped by the lot today (better weather today) and saw that the silt fence is up and everything is staked.  With all the different colors it looks like Easter eggs placed all around our property.  :-)

Next step is to get the silt fence inspected and then it is time to dig!  My best guess is that we'll be breaking ground late next week.

Looking at our house from the common driveway.  They are hard to see, but yellow stakes are the center of our driveway.

Blue stakes are the house!!  This is looking at our front porch.

Yellow stakes are the driveway leading back to the common driveway (where our cars are).

So you can get an idea of the lay of the land.  Yellow is driveway, blue is the house.
